David Herrera's first student project as a director at NYU film school was an unofficial video for the Radiohead song "How To Disappear Completely". It was recently named by Paste Magazine as one of the "Best Music Videos of The Decade". Herrera has gone on to direct and produce music videos for nearly 10 years for such recording artists as Erykah Badu & Zap Mama, Andrew Bird, Ceci Bastida & Diplo featuring Rye Rye, members of The Black Keys, and Divinity Roxx (Beyonce's musical director).
David Herrera is currently raising funds for "UNPAID: a dark comedy web series" about his experience as an intern in the music video industry. It features actors from television sitcoms The Big Bang Theory and Workaholics.
Herrera is also currently writing "Land Of 1000 Dances" a comedy feature film about a Chicano "party rock" band during the Civil Rights Era. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Olmos Kontakto Entertainment are interested in developing the film project.
Previously Herrera co-wrote the film "Security" with Rob Nilsson, the first American director to win the top prizes at both Cannes and Sundance film festivals. The film won the Audience Award at the GreenCine DivX Film Festival.
David Herrera most recently produced "Face Of A Nation", a forth-coming documentary feature film about international architecture competitions. Filmed at the Venice Bienalle and Shanghai World Expo, the film features interviews with celebrated architects such as Frank Gehry. Funded by USC School Of Architecture and IDA.
David Herrera is currently directing and producing commercials for San Francisco Bay Area and "Silicon Beach" tech companies as well as doing advertising design and illustration work for non-profit organizations and academic institutions.
