ABOUT US
Rebus101 is the moniker for musician and visual/graffiti artist-turned-filmmaker David Herrera. He began making films at U.C. Berkeley as a Film Department student alongside Cannes & Sundance winner and artist-in-residence Rob Nilsson, co-writing the GreenCine Film Festival's Audience Award-winning feature film "Security".
Herrera then wrote, produced, and directed a highly acclaimed spec video for Radiohead's "How To Disappear Completely" at NYU Film (Tisch) which continues to attract more than half a million YouTube views and spectacular reviews. Herrera then returned to Hollywood to selectively produce music videos for many of the most critically acclaimed recording artists in the industry. Working alongside video veteran Bill Fishman, David Herrera produced the music video for David Byrne's (Talking Heads) label Luaka Bop Records recording artist, Zap Mama with Erykah Badu, for the song "Bandy Bandy", and co-wrote the concept for the mega-popular music video remake for Rick Springfield's "Jessie's Girl" with J Records recording artists Frickin' A.
Starting his own company Rebus101Films in 2004, Herrera has directed music videos for critically-acclaimed recording artists Andrew Bird & Calogero Dean, Universal Record's Mnemonic, Dead Man Watching from Milan Italy, and many others. Herrera's highly conceptual music videos have been exhibited at Museum Of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Herrera works with both Video Commissioners at record labels and directly with independent musicians to create video concepts that are spectacular, memorable, and thought-provoking.
